Do the wheels fit tightly to the cooking skewer or the competitors have to utilize given materials to secure the wheels?

  • · Team's will understand the need for attaching the wheels once they receive and discuss the materials given.

Can you clarify what wheels we should use?

  • · We do not release this information before the students enter the room or their competition. I have heard of teams practicing with bottle caps and larger K'nex or Lego wheels.

Do the wheels have traction or are they smooth wheels? Also, how thick are the wheels?

  • · This information will not be given until the day of the competition.

Does the rubber band have to travel with the car (e.g., be part of a mechanism within the car like wrapping around an axle) or can it be used to sling-shot the car down the track such that the rubber band stays at the starting line while the car travels down the track without it?

  • · The rubber bands may not be used as a sling shot.

As presented to coaches, there is no golf ball in this event. Use the most current rules dated Sept. 23.

Questions: 1) The rules manual says participants can cut the cardboard but list of items provided does not list scissors. Do they bring their own? 2) Scoring section Tier 2 says "golf fall out". Please clarify what is meant. 3) what is the width of the masking tape being provided?

Answers: (1) Division A will provide scissors. (2) Stated above. (3) 2.54 cm.
