Divisions BC Clarifications

Section 2.e: Participants may bring their own basic multimeters for use in place of provided ones at the discretion of the Event Supervisor. Teams will not be permitted to use their own multimeters at VASO tournaments.

Section 4.d.iv: The Launch Handle will be collected and returned to the team at the start of their 10-minute 6-minute Flight Period.

Section 4.d.v: Teams may only use their programming devices for programming; no other actions like using a calculator app or viewing electronic notes are permitted. Teams may access the Internet to program their Device. Any actions not required for programming will cause a team to be awarded at minimum a competition violation and may result in disqualification. Internet access may not be available at all competitions.

Section 8.g: Tools may be electric and electronic tools, including programming devices like laptops. Teams may also bring one Class III calculator. To qualify as a Tool, the item must not travel on the Track with the Vehicle and cannot be used to align or aim the Vehicle.

Section 4.a.i: Teams must impound one Vehicle, batteries, spare parts, alignment device (if used part of the Vehicle), Kit Modification Form (if used), and any papers (if used).

Section 2.e: Teams will be provided with a printed set of engineering drawings and a starting Onshape document with an assembly that has parts needed for creating the finished assembly. Teams will either be required to use their own Onshape accounts or use provided Onshape credentials at the discretion of the Event Supervisor. Teams will be required to use their own Onshape accounts at VASO tournaments.

Section 2.f: Teams will provide the Event Supervisor with two one Onshape account email addresses prior to address at the start of the event. These account addresses This account address will be used to provide testing materials during the event session only and will not be saved after the tournament. If two students are competing together, the one who gave their account address will receive instructions on how to share the testing materials with their partner.

Section 2.d: No resource materials, except those provided by the Event Supervisor, may be used, including notes and calculators. No computer applications may be opened except a web browser, which may only be used to access and edit the Onshape file that the team will submit for scoring.

Section 2.c: Each participant may bring a wired or wireless mouse, a laptop charger, and writing utensils. Tournament venues are not guaranteed to have outlets available for teams to plug in their chargers.

Rules: VASO will not run the written test portion of the event. It will only run the device testing.

Hydraulics is a trial event - while individual medals are awarded, it does not count towards the team score. Alternates, members of the competition team, or gold bid participants may compete in the event, however each school may only send one pair to compete.

Section 4.d.iii(4): At the ES’s discretion, the egg may be placed inside a thin transparent plastic bag. Event Supervisors at VASO tournaments will not allow the egg to be placed inside a bag.
