Katie Davis

Secretary

Katie Davis has been involved in Science Olympiad since 2017 as the head coach of Blacksburg High School's Science Olympiad team.  A very ambitious group of students approached her to start a team in the 2017-2018 school year, and she agreed, without really knowing what she would be getting into with that response.  Since those first years, she has happily celebrated her student's successes as they learned about Science Olympiad together.  Witnessing students' joy as they learn about new areas of science and experience success with new challenges is one of the most rewarding parts of her career.

Ms. Davis lives in Christiansburg, VA with her husband, three children, five cats, her golden retriever, and a variety of woodland creatures in the woods around her home.  When not surrounded by students, Ms. Davis loves spending time with her family, at scouting activities, or scuba diving with sharks.

Ms. Davis teaches chemistry and AP Seminar and AP Research at Blacksburg High School in Blacksburg, VA where she began her high school teaching career in 2005.  She earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, a B.A. in Chemistry, and a M.S. in Chemistry from Virginia Tech along with a M.S. in Educational Leadership from Radford University, and a Graduate Certificate in Teacher Leadership from James Madison University.
